Privacy Policy

Last updated 21 September 2026 · Version 2026-09-21

This policy explains what personal data Warqti collects when you use the website or the app, why we collect it, who else touches it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not skimmed. If anything is unclear, write to hello@warqti.com.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Warqti (ورقتي), company registration pending. Our contact for anything related to personal data, including data-protection requests, is hello@warqti.com.

Warqti operates under the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law (Law 151 of 2020) and its executive regulations. The supervisory authority is the Personal Data Protection Center (PDPC).

What the service does

You upload documents, pay with Print Credit that you top up online, choose a partner print shop (a maktaba, kiosk or stationery near you), and receive a single-use pickup code with a QR. When you walk in, the partner scans the code in your presence, and only then is your file released to the shop's printer. You pay the price shown before you order; Warqti earns a commission from the partner.

What we collect

We collect only what the service needs to work:

  • Your email address and/or mobile number (stored in international format), and an optional display name.
  • Your language preference.
  • A device name for each app sign-in, so signing out ends the right session.
  • Your IP address and browser or device identifier when you sign in, accept these terms, or take an action we must audit (for example a refund).
  • Your order history: what was printed, where, when, and for how much.
  • Your Print Credit ledger: top-ups, payments, and refunds.
  • The documents you upload, the PDF version we convert them to for printing, and a small preview of the first page.

We do not store card numbers or bank details. Payments are processed by Paymob, our payment provider, on their own systems.

Why we process it, and on what legal basis

  • To provide the service you asked for, including converting, pricing, and releasing your documents to the shop you chose: performance of a contract.
  • To process your documents and personal data at all: your consent, which you give when you accept this policy. Marketing messages are sent only if you separately opt in.
  • To meet legal obligations such as tax records and fraud reporting: legal obligation.
  • To keep the platform secure and detect abuse: legitimate interest, balanced against your rights.

You can withdraw consent at any time (see "Your rights" below). Withdrawing consent stops future processing but does not undo what was lawfully processed before.

How your documents are protected

  • Documents are encrypted at rest.
  • The partner cannot open or preview your file before the pickup code is scanned in your presence. Until the scan, the shop only sees the job's page count, size, and print settings.
  • Documents are automatically deleted 24 hours after upload. If a file in your basket expires before you order, we ask you to upload it again.
  • We keep a record that a print succeeded (order reference, shop, time) for 30 days for dispute handling. That record does not contain the document.

Your pickup code is valid for 6 hours by default. You can re-issue it up to 3 times within the original window. After 5 wrong attempts the code locks. Orders that are never collected expire and are refunded to your Print Credit automatically.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of service providers, each bound by contract to process data only on our instructions:

  • Paymob (Egypt): payment processing for top-ups and refunds.
  • Contabo GmbH (Germany): hosting and document storage during the pilot phase. Our target storage location is Amazon Web Services in Bahrain (me-south-1), and we will update this policy when we move.
  • Resend (European Union): transactional email, such as your sign-in code and receipts.
  • Sentry (European Union region): error monitoring. Personal data is stripped from error reports before they leave our servers.
  • MapTiler: map tiles for the shop picker.
  • A print-delivery relay provider (United States): carries the print job from our servers to the partner's printer at the moment of release.

We plan to add SMS delivery through an Egyptian aggregator and WhatsApp Business messaging (Meta). Both will be added to this list before we use them.

Some of these providers are outside Egypt. Where data leaves the country, we rely on the transfer mechanisms permitted by the PDPL and its regulations, and we keep a record of each transfer.

How long we keep things

  • Documents and their converted versions: 24 hours after upload, then deleted.
  • Print-success records: 30 days.
  • Account details, order history, and Print Credit ledger: for as long as your account exists, then as required by tax and accounting law.
  • Sign-in and consent logs: as long as your account exists, to prove that you agreed and to protect against fraud.

Cookies and analytics

The website uses only essential first-party cookies needed to keep you signed in and secure. Our default analytics tool (Umami) is cookieless and does not identify you. Google Analytics loads only if you explicitly accept it in the banner on the website, and you can change your mind at any time.

Your rights

Under the PDPL you can:

  • Ask what data we hold about you and receive a copy.
  • Correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete your account and personal data.
  • Withdraw consent you previously gave.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Center (PDPC).

Send requests to hello@warqti.com. We answer within 30 days. When you ask for erasure, we remove your personal fields and documents; audit records required by law are kept with the personal details removed.

Keeping your account safe

Warqti will never ask for your one-time code by phone, email, or chat. Anyone who does is not us. Do not share your code with anyone, including someone who says they work for Warqti or a partner shop.

Children

You must be 18 or older to use Warqti, or have the consent of a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

When we make material changes, we will ask you to review and accept the new version in the app before you continue. The version date is shown at the top of this page.
